NURS342L COMMUNITY TEACHING PROJECT

Assignment:

  1. Teaching groups will consist of at least 2-4 individuals within each clinical group. Each group will select a group leader/facilitator. The group will choose a topic and group with the instructor’s consent. The group should establish group norms to facilitate the group process.
  2. The target teaching group should consist of approximately ten individuals.
  3. The presentation will receive a group grade. Each student is expected to participate in all phases of the project.
  4. If the group process becomes an inhibiting factor to the success of the group project, the group “facilitator” must notify the Instructor. If a student fails to assume equal responsibility for the project, the student may be assigned an individual grade.
  5. There are three deliverables to the project:

1.) Each group will create an evidence-based presentation for the                     clinical site. Your outline of content and activities must be approved by           your professor who will establish the allotted time frame.                             Depending on the clinical setting, a PowerPoint presentation, hands-on     activities, or verbal presentations are accepted.

2.) If the population is dependent, a handout summarizing key concepts         of the teaching project and highlighting community resources will be             created for the target or their caregivers.

3.) Finally, each group will present their plan covering the assessment                                           and planning information week 6 prior to teaching so that that                                                       faculty can provide final feedback. This should be a powerpoint                                          presentation.

  3. State which social determinants of health and vulnerable populations your project addresses.
  4. State the Healthy People 2030 objective that your teaching project supports.
  5. Describe two community resources available to meet the community’s needs in this problem area and discuss their effectiveness (not the site you are working at.)
