Instructions: Complete this week’s required reading in the Sue et al (2019) textbook then answer two out of the three questions below within your TD. After posting your TD, remember to complete the required number of peer responses.

- Consider the case examples offered at the beginning of Chapter 9 within the textbook. Of note is how cultural adaptations may be needed for a therapeutic practice or intervention to be considered multiculturally sensitive and responsive. Consider your own burgeoning theoretical orientation within this context and these examples from Chapter 9. Describe some ways you might need to adapt your treatment approach or theoretical perspective to include the individual’s multicultural background.

- Define the constructs of Evidence Based Practice and Empirically Supported Treatments. In doing so, describe similarities and differences between these constructs as it pertains to multiculturally competent practice? Also address what would you need to know about ESTs and the multicultural background of a client to develop of a culturally adapted therapeutic approach?
- The therapeutic relationship has repeatedly shown to be one of the strongest predictors of therapeutic success (if not the strongest altogether). Address 2 aspects of the therapeutic alliance as discussed in in the Sue et al text, as well as how you might adapt your style to take into account one’s multicultural background.
