DNP Biostatistics Assignment
Statistical Analysis of a Clinical Question
Objective: To apply biostatistical methods to a real-world clinical question relevant to advanced nursing practice.
Instructions:
Part 1: Define Your Clinical Question (PICO Format)
Develop a clearly defined clinical question using the PICO format (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome).
Example: In adult patients with hypertension (P), how does a nurse-led lifestyle intervention (I) compared to usual care (C) affect blood pressure levels (O)?
Part 2: Select a Dataset
Use one of the following:
- A publicly available health dataset (e.g., CDC, NHANES, WHO)
- Simulated data provided by the instructor
- De-identified clinical data with appropriate IRB clearance
DNP Biostatistics Assignment
Part 3: Perform Descriptive Analysis
- Summarize key demographic variables
- Report measures of central tendency (mean, median) and variability (standard deviation, range)
- Create at least 2 visualizations (e.g., histogram, box plot, bar chart)
Part 4: Conduct Inferential Analysis
Choose an appropriate statistical test to answer your clinical question:
- T-test, chi-square, ANOVA, correlation, linear/logistic regression, etc.
- Justify your choice of test
- Report the test statistic, p-value, and interpret the result
Part 5: Interpretation and Clinical Relevance
Write a brief discussion (300–500 words) explaining:
- What the statistical findings mean in the context of your clinical question
- Implications for nursing practice or healthcare decision-making
Check tips on how to do your DNP PROJECT WRITING.
Deliverables:
- Typed report (5–7 pages), including tables/figures
- Appendix with code/output (if using statistical software like SPSS, R, or Excel
Fill in this sentence:
Contribute a minimum of (number) pages. It should include at least (number) academic sources, formatted and cited in APA.
