After watching this week’s video, Watch: Brief Therapy for Addictions, 6, Motivational Interviewing, explain what MI skills you observed Miller demonstrate throughout the video and where these were used. Integrate a biblical worldview into your evaluation of the MI skills. How do they relate to Christian principles and biblical truths? How can the skills embrace an individual’s culture?

Then, discuss how you would have approached the session. As counselors, we all counsel differently so even while observing counselors who do an exceptional job in a counseling session there is always a different approach that we would take as we counsel. We add our own flavor; therefore, discuss what your approach would have been and why. Use support from the Miller and Rollnick text for your discussion of these skills. For each thread, students must support their assertations with at least 2 outside scholarly citations in current APA format. Each reply must incorporate at least 1 outside scholarly citation in current APA format. Any sources cited must have been published within the last 5 years. Acceptable sources include academic peer-reviewed journal articles, scholarly books, and course materials.
