Vanessa is a counselor (could be private group practice, could be school counselor – you choose). One afternoon at 1:00 p.m., she has had a cancelled appointment and is using the time to work at her computer updating her records from her morning. Margie, the counselor whose office is next door, pokes her head in the door and asks Vanessa for a case consultation. Vanessa and Margie go into Margie’s office and close the door for privacy. Unbeknownst to Vanessa, her 2:00 p.m. appointment arrives early, sees that her office door is open, and goes in. The client/student reads the documentation that Vanessa had left on her computer screen.
