Please select one individual theory of career development (i.e., Super’s Theory) from the theories that we have discussed so far and articulate how you are applying the concepts of the theory to the case. This should be a conceptualization of the client and the client’s presenting concerns.

Most importantly, case conceptualization is not about what you would do with the client/student in the counseling office. It is about how you “see” and “understand” the client/student. There are resources in the course to provide assistance on conceptualization to help and guide you in your learning and with your papers this semester.

Your paper should include the following:

APA Format– Please review APA style!!

Intro Paragraph – what is your paper about? Provide a brief overview of what this paper/case is about (This should be 1/4 -1/2 page long)

Present Theory & Conceptualization – Spend 3-4 pages on this. You should discuss the theory and selected constructs (you do not need to discuss all of the constructs) as you present your understanding of the client and the client’s presenting concerns. Please do not regurgitate the case information here. You should discuss the case information as it supports your conceptualization, though, with in-text citations. Do not directly quote the text or other sources; only paraphrase with supporting in-text citations.

Recommendations – these should follow your conceptualization and be consistent with your theory. This is where you would discuss what you might do in counseling or in terms of assessments with the client. What are your thoughts about initial goals? What are your recommendations consistent with your theory of choice (This should be no more than 2 pages long)?

Conclusion Paragraph – briefly sum up your paper (This should be 1/4 – 1/2 page long).

References – Please cite references used for the case. Please use at least one outside reference (other than your text!) You do not need to actually cite the actual case study.

Your paper should be 5-6 written pages long, not including the cover page and references. You should follow APA style and use proper spelling, grammar, and writing style. Please submit your paper through BB.
