Please respond to each of the following:

  1. What are your thoughts about the Career Formulation Interview for Career Counseling? How can this be used in your future work as a counselor?
  2. Discuss your own cultural identity in terms of dominant or non-dominant cultural group membership.
  3. Cultural norms, sociopolitical realities, socioeconomic factors, and societal messages all impact career development. Pick one of these factors and briefly discuss how it impacts career development.
  4. Discuss your findings after completing the genogram assignment and card sorts. What was significant? Any similarities?

  1. Discuss the case of Lily Huang Li Mei (one of the case studies in the text). What cultural dimensions were most likely to impact her career development? How has this shaped her career problem? In conceptualizing clients, we have to identify major themes – what do you think are these themes for her and how do these integrate with the presenting problem?
  2. What is your “aha” for this unit?
