Mental Health Case

JC is a 48-year-old single, heterosexual male inventory clerk who lives alone. A resident of Austin, Texas, he has sought online counseling from Gene Stanton, a licensed mental health counselor residing in Los Angeles and holding licenses in New York and California. Counseling sessions were scheduled on a weekly basis through video conferencing calls via Skype. JC’s presenting problem was an inability to forge lasting personal relationships. He was married once before for 6 months, after which his wife filed for divorce.

JC pauses again. “I have some sleeping pills. It would be better that way,” said JC.
