Description of the Assignment:

This assignment will allow you to further investigate a research topic of interest to you. First, you will work to develop a research question. Once the question has been finalized, you will be asked to conduct a thorough review of the literature. This will include searching a variety of databases using keywords as discussed in class. Your findings will be summarized and presented in a final manuscript. Below you will find further details of what is expected in the final draft of this assignment.

Nursing Literature Review

  • Use primary sources to identify 5-10 relevant articles on your topic
  • Articles should be recent, within the past 5 years
  • Your summary of the topic should include the following:

◦ Introduction to the scope of the problem

◦ What is known about the phenomenon of interest

◦ Identify gaps in the literature

◦ Discuss the need for further research

This is an individual assignment. Each student will be asked to submit a paper of 4 pages in length. Draft and final versions are due as per the schedule. Your draft will receive feedback from the course instructor and a group of assigned peers from the course. Once you receive feedback for the initial draft, you will be expected to edit your paper and submit the final product by the due date according to the schedule.
